WEEK 1 - 3

         TASK:          Media File 


Each week you will need to collect news clippings or to embed a news article link in your blog about current issues. The most useful sources are The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian newspapers. Other metropolitan newspapers may also be of interest eg. The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian and The Conversation. 

Current concerns are usually immediately covered by the press and it will mean you quickly become familiar with some of the debates in both the local and macro environment

 


WEEK 2 - TEXT TYPE: Newspaper Articles

 TASK 1: 

  • Find a news article on Environment in one of the newspapers on the right or search for yourself
  • Embed the link in your blog 
  • Read the article (use the reading strategies - skimming/scanning/reading for detail)
  • Take notes as a new post in your blog (main ideas of the text expressed in key words, NOT sentences)
HOMEWORK:
  • Write a brief summary on the text
  • Write your personal reflection on the issue (your opinion in your own words)
TASK 2: 
  • Complete the Reading Academically Quiz
  • Check the feedback given at the end to see if you are an efficient reader

 Dear Students!


Welcome back to TAFE and welcome to our AEFS Class Sem 1 2021. Blogging is an ideal avenue for teaching and learning literacy allowing you to be creative and if you remember that a blog is just a blank canvas you can innovate and mould it into anything you like. It is an effective two-way communication between home and school, so important. Blogging is an excellent method for learning to be a responsible member of an online community in an authentic and ongoing way. Blogging assist students (and teachers) to become digitally literate and creating a blog requires teamwork and collaboration. Students and teachers learn together. I hope you will enjoy your reading class and blogging which can help you advance your reading and writing skills.
